The main lake at Islandderry Fishery is a natural , clear water lake of 9 acres . The lake is over 400 years old and is fed by a incoming stream and natural springs. Although it has a average depth of 7 feet there is alot of deep holes and gourges in the lake some of which as deep as 25 meters.
There is an aboundance of fly life on the lake and with a good evening rise its ideal for buzzer and dry fly fishing. The trout are canidian blueback trout and steelheads ranging from 2lb to 20lb and once caught, will give anglers a run for their money putting up a good energitic fight, no matter what their size.
The lake has alot of character and charm with the residence swans and ducks adding to the setting.
There are 10 boats available for hire or if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground try one of the jetties.
Monthly competitions are run on the main lake with cash prizes for the heaviest bag of 4 trout. Check out the Upcoming Events page for details on the next competition.
