Islandderry Fishery is situated in Co. Down and home to quality strong fighting rainbow trout. The Fishery offers fly and bait fishing for anglers of all experiences in a safe and friendly environment.
Islandderry consists of two lakes. The main lake is a 400 year old natural, clear water lake of 12 acres. There
is boat and bank fishing available on the main lake and its stocked
with rainbow and steel head trout from 2lb to 25lb. Fly fishing only on
the main lake.
The Hollow Springs lake is a small man-made lake of 1 acre and 12 foot deep. There is a stone pathway round the lake for bank fishing. Perfect for beginners. Methods on this lake are fly, bread and worm.
There is an abundance of fly life on both lakes making dry-fly and buzzer fishing very popular with sedges, daddy long legs, f-flies and black midge being among the favorites. Suspended buzzers, bloodworm, and hoppers also work well. The favorite nymphs are hare's ears, dwal backs, montanas, damsels and pheasant tails. Best lures to use are cormorants, cats whiskers and yellow dancers.
Islandderry Fishery has a lot to offer with monthly, all night and evening competitions and winter league run on a regular basis. Junior events and casting days are run throughout the summer months. There is a on-site tackle shop which stocks everything from flies to rods. Fly tying classes, and casting tuition from qualified A.A.P.G.A.I Instructors are also available.
